Mexico initiates the fifth anti-dumping sunset review investigation against Brazilian steel rebar
On July 30, 2020, the Mexican Ministry of Economic Affairs issued an announcement in the official gazette, responding to Mexican companies Ternium México, SA de CV, ArcelorMittal México, SA de CV, Deacero, SAPI de CV, TA 2000, SA de CV and Grupo Simec, SAB The application of de CV decided to initiate the fifth anti-dumping sunset review investigation on rebar (Spanish: varilla corrugada) originating in Brazil. During the investigation of the case, the anti-dumping measures determined in the original final ruling continued to be effective. The resolution will take effect the day after its issuance. The dumping investigation period in this case is from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, and the damage investigation period is from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020. The TIGIE tax number of the product involved is 7214.20.01.
On August 11, 1995, Mexico issued an announcement in the official gazette, making a final anti-dumping ruling on rebar originating in Brazil and imposing a 57.69% anti-dumping duty on the products involved. On June 13, 2002, June 20, 2006, January 12, 2012, and September 9, 2016, Mexico issued announcements in the official gazette, respectively making the first and first announcements on the involved products originating in Brazil. The second, third and fourth anti-dumping sunset review final rulings extended the anti-dumping duty validity period determined in the original final ruling announcement by five years.
