Summary of imports of aluminum products in Switzerland and Mexico in the past three years
Switzerland’s main trading partner is the European Union. 78% of the country’s import share comes from the EU, while 43% of its export share goes to the EU.
From 2017 to 2019, Switzerland imported a total of 28,545 tons of bauxite, of which 8,301 tons were imported in 2017, and imports in 2018 increased by 27.17% year-on-year to 10,557 tons. In 2019, imports fell by 8.24% year-on-year to 9,687 tons. It is expected that imports in 2020 will increase by 7.04% year-on-year to 10,369 tons.
Switzerland mainly imports bauxite from China, Denmark, France, Germany, and Italy.
Mexico’s prominent industries include automobiles, aerospace, medical equipment, clothing and textiles.
From 2017 to 2019, Mexico imported a total of 96,962 tons of aluminum pipes. Among them, 18,743 tons were imported in 2017. In 2018, imports increased by 129.68% year-on-year to 43,049 tons. Imports in 2019 fell 18.30% year-on-year to 35,170 tons. It is expected that the country’s aluminum pipe imports in 2020 will further decline by 12.80% to 30,666 tons.
Mexico mainly imports aluminum pipes from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Indonesia, the United States, Poland and South Korea.
